From Classroom to Couch: A New Chapter Begins

After years of study, countless hours of training, and more coffee than I care to admit, I’m thrilled to share a milestone I’ve been working toward: I’ve officially transitioned from my internship at school to a clinical internship at a private practice—and I am now accepting clients!
This shift feels both surreal and deeply right. During my time in graduate school, I had the privilege of learning foundational theories, diving deep into the complexities of human relationships, and beginning my hands-on work under close supervision. It was a sacred time of formation—both as a therapist and as a person.
Now, stepping into this new phase at Montooth Counseling, I feel a renewed sense of purpose. There’s something powerful about moving from the classroom, clinical classroom, into a private practice—to sit with people in their pain, their growth, their stories—and offer a steady presence as they heal and discover who they are becoming.
What excites me most? It’s the opportunity to meet you—clients who are ready to engage in the courageous work of therapy. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, wrestling with relationships, healing from trauma, or simply wanting to feel more grounded and whole, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
If you’re curious about therapy or think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect. This is more than a career step; it’s a calling—and I’m grateful to now offer this work more fully.
Here’s to growth, healing, and new beginnings.
Warmly,
Ashlee Kelly, MFT Intern
